The BUY (RED) Campaign

Perhaps some of you have heard of the ‘buy red’ campaign. Companies like Apple, Motorola, American Express, Armani, GAP and Converse, among others, have committed to donating a portion of their profits on special products to the (RED) campaign, which buys and distributes medicine to women and children with AIDS.
(RED) is a very simple idea. As first world consumers, we have tremendous buying power. What we choose to buy or not buy can change the course of life and history on this planet. If you buy a (RED) product or sign up for a (RED) service, a (RED) company will give some of its profits to buy and distribute anti-retroviral medicine to women and children dying of AIDS.

All of us here at Absecon feel a strong pull to do what we can to support this very important program. It’s sometimes difficult to imagine what we can do on a global scale, but there’s infinite power in numbers and any small part we play, when joined with the efforts of so many others, really can make a difference.

Beginning January 1st 2007, a portion of the sale price for any Absecon product with ‘Red’ in the name (and there are well over 60) will be donated to The Global Fund to buy medicine for women and children with AIDS. The Global Fund is an innovative partnership of governments, nonprofit organizations, and the private sector, working together to rid the world of AIDS, tuberculosis (TB) and malaria. Its sole purpose is to raise funds and make grants to countries, organizations and communities that urgently need financial help to allow them to respond to these epidemics. 100% of donations to The Global Fund go to life saving programs around the world fighting AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, with no portion being diverted for administrative costs by the United Nations Foundation.

We hope to make a difference in some small way, and we welcome you to join us in our commitment to this very worthy cause.
